Mount Washington (Cascades)

Summit: 4,450ft

8.5m 3,250ft gain

A great alternative to the always crowded Mount Si and Mailbox Peak. With easy access it can be hiked all year. Go when Rainier is out for a perfectly framed view of it!

1st Trip: 5/7/18

Afternoon hike with Kelly and Braeden. After hiking up Mount Teneriffe a few days before I was eager to bag all the peaks on the I-90 Shuffle 10 peak challenge! This would be number 5. The trail is easy to follow and part of it borders the Cedar River Watershed, the water supply for the city of Seattle. Once out of the tress you’ll walk up a south facing slope with an unobstructed view of Rainier.

Chester Morse Lake:

At the summit you’ll have some great views north across I-90.

The only view of McClellan Butte where it doesn’t look that steep:

First trip up for Moose!

Conditions were perfect and we made some friends!

The whiskey jacks eventually ran us off the summit chasing after our snacks.

Of course Moose had to check out the cave!
