Sorcery Mountain

Summit: 5,273ft

9m 3,900ft gain

A relatively unknown mountain tucked away in the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Valley. Where the road ends the Dingford Creek Trail begins. A number of other peaks can be accessed from this trail. The biggest and baddest is Big Snow Mountain which is high on my to-do list. I found Sorcery doing research on Big Snow and was easily attracted to Sorcery because of the name and the scouting opportunities. It’s no easy hike as you’ll gain 3,900ft in less than 4 miles and you’ll have to bushwhack the last 1,000ft.

1st Trip: 5/12/19

First time on the gnarly Dingford Creek trail. The road isn’t too bad to get there.

After 2 miles of walking along the creek a climber’s path heads straight up to Horseshoe Lake.

Horseshoe Lake is where the trail ends and the bushwhack begins. The snow made everything a little easier to navigate.

The last stretch to the summit is a fun boulder hop.

The weather was better than expected and so I felt rewarded with a completely new view of many familiar peaks.

It felt like I could reach out and touch Big Snow Mountain. That’ll be the next objective in the area!

It was slightly hazy making everything look blue and white like Glacier Peak:
